Philadelphia Eagles NFL Rumors: QB Tim Tebow dives for a TD, fans in standing ovation, will Tebow earn a spot?

The idea of Tim Tebow signing for the Philadelphia Eagles to be part of “gadget plays” is totally different from what coach Chip Kelly did in utilizing the quarterback against the Indianapolis Colts. Tebow played as a quarterback to lead the Eagles in a 36-10 win.

Kelly allowed Tebow to enter the game with seven minutes left in the third quarter. Because of his popularity, he received a standing ovation from the fans. Late in the fourth quarter, Tebow rushed at the right end and dove over safety Winston Guy for a 7-yard touchdown. Right after the touchdown, thousands of Eagles fans applauded Tebow and with standing ovation.

After the game, Tebow said:

“It was fun,” Playing ball. I loved it. You want to be focused on footwork, reads, communication with everybody but also enjoy the moment. You won’t always have it.”

“I was thankful,” Tebow said, laughing. “But I was also like, ‘They [the Eagles offensive players] won’t be able to hear me! We’ll have to go [to a] silent [count].’ It’s very humbling. It definitely means a lot.”

Tebow completed 6 of 12 passes for 69 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He rushed four times for 15 yards and one touchdown. Tebow played great with the third string offensive line of the Eagles.

“You have to look at who’s in with who,” Kelly said. “A different set of receivers was in when Tim was in, and a different line at times. A couple of those, you’re wondering, ‘why is he doing that?’ Well, the receiver ran the wrong route. There were a couple of busts out there.”

Tebow played behind Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley while Sam Bradford, the starter in regular season, did not play Sunday. However, Bradford is expected to play next Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Preview:
The Indianapolis Colts take on the Philadelphia Eagles a preseason game on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

With Andrew Luck as the quarterback, the Colts have captured 1 1 games for three consecutive seasons and aim to go deeper, in the super bowl this season. Luck has been consistent in the offense that provides opportunities for all the receivers. Luck wants to be in the Super Bowl this season, after a disappointing loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. It is significant to note that the additions of Frank Gore, TY Hilton and Andre Johnson will boost the offensive juggernaut of the Colts. Moreover, the inclusion of Phillip Dorsett and Donte Moncrief will help the team. Matt Hasselbeck will be the backup quarterback for the Colts.

The Philadelphia Eagles have substantial roster to be back to the playoffs after failing to enter last season. Sam Bradford is the starting quarterback while Tim Tebow, Mark Sanches and Matt Barkley are fighting for the backup quarterback position. The Eagles will have Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews as the receivers. On the other hand, DeMarco Murray will automatically increase the offensive attacks of the Eagles. On the defense, the Eagles have a lot of young guys looking to prove they can step up, including Kiko Alonso, Jaylen Watkins and Brandon Bair.
