USA vs Cuba Gold Cup CONCACAF Online Coverage, Preview

The United States men’s national team takes on Cuba in the quarterfinal of the (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday at 5:00 PM ET.

USA was on top of Group A after beating Honduras and Haiti but only a draw against Panama. A win today will allow the United States to be in the semifinal round against Cuba who will not be a threat

The Americans ended at 2-0-1 while capturing Group A and are coming off Monday’s 1-1 tie with Panama. Cuba went 1-2 to finish third in Group C, but slipped into the knockout round with a 1-0 defeat of Guatemala on Wednesday.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann contemplates about the past three games and he is making changes in Saturday’s game. He will insert DaMarcus Beasley, Joe Corona and Alan Gordon while removing Greg Garza, Jozy Altidore and Alfredo Morales.

“Having DaMarcus come into the team is huge, because of his character, his giving nature, the spirit he brings, but also the high quality he brings. He brings a lot of experience into this group, and he’s hungry. He’s still as hungry as day one in his career,” Klinsmann told U.S.

With the addition of new faces in the roster against Cuba, Clint Dempsey might be able to find more avenues to score goals. Dempsey has been the best player of the US Men’s national soccer team in the Group Stage.
