2015 Tour De France Live: Chris Froome TDF Stage 11 Pau to Cauterets

Team Sky Chris Froome is ready to increase his lead going into Stage 11 of Tour de France 2015 in which it suits best for him in a mountaintop finish.

Froome showed that he is the “behemoth” in this competition after dismantling his opponents in Stage 10. Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali and Nairo Quintana couldn’t keep up the acceleration that Team Sky applied, especially when Froom attacked in the last six kilometers to win the stage and to distance himself.

Stage 11 is another mountaintop finish which starts from Pau, covering 188km with six categorized climbs, including the Col du Tourmalet, where many legends of the sports made their names. The stage will finish in Cauterets after a category climb. Though the final kilometers are not of the same as stage 11, the defining moments will eventually come to the best rider in today’s stage.

Froome is on top in the General Classifications standings with 2:59 lead over USA’s Tejay Van Garderen, who lost more than two minutes in stage 11. Nairo Quintana is the rider to watch as he needs to make up time on the leader. Meanwhile, Alejandro Valverde displayed that he has the legs when he attacked in the 10 km mark before the finish yesterday but of no avail as Team Sky responded slowly. Meanwhile, don’t count out former TDF winner Alberto Contador yet. Contador is still a dark horse in the competition. Last year’s winner of the tour Vincenzo Nibali has to bounce back after he cracked early in the last climb on Tuesday.
