Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Seahawks to resign QB Tarvaris Jackson, Russell Wilson’s contract not done?

The Seattle Seahawks have to make sure that backup quarterbacks will not be an issue in the coming season by agreeing to re-sign veteran quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.

Though the Seahawks are not speculating of losing quarterback Russell Wilson as the starter, they need a backup quarterback in case something happens to Wilson.

Jackson has been the backup quarterback of the Seahawks in the last two season and no quarterbacks other than Wilson have the knowledge of the team’s playbook. Jackson will be the behind Wilson while R.J. Archer will be the third string quarterback for the Seahawks. Jackson has thrown only 14 passes in the last two years. He started 14 games for coach Pete Carroll in 2011 after playing with the Minnesota Vikings in his first five seasons.

The Seahawks and Wilson’s agent are not done yet in finishing contract talks. Though Wilson expressed last week that he is willing to play his final year contract with the Seahawks, Wilson’s agent is thinking differently and he wants to find the best contract possible before the season starts.

Seattle believes that the defense has something to do about the success, going to two Super Bowls in two years, but the Seahawks understand the importance of Russell Wilson, who is at the center of those successes.
