NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Sam Bradford confident he’s ready for training camp, Who will be the starting quarterback

Quarterback Sam Bradford hasn’t joined the Eagles to 11-on-11 drills at minicamp. Bradford is recovering from a knee surgery and his confidence that he is prepared for the training camp shows his health is improving. Bradford expects to be at full practice by the start of the training camp.

“I think if I’m not ready for 11-on-11 by training camp, then I think something has gone terribly wrong,” Bradford said on The Philadelphia Inquirer. “That’s the plan.”

Eagles coach Chip Kelly sounded similarly confident when asked if Bradford would be ready 11-on-11 work in training camp.

Said Kelly: “God, we hope so.”

Bradford participated in 7-on-7 drills on Tuesday and is reportedly moving better after some less than glowing reports about his mobility during OTAs. He set a schedule with the Eagles’ strength and training staff last week and plans to stay in Philadelphia for most of the summer.

Coach Kelly sees something on Bradford as he acquired him from the St Louis Rams for quarterback Nick Foles and a pair of mid-round draft picks.

Bradford’s career is marred by injuries, dating back from his college years. Bradford had to overcome concussion in 2007 and a shoulder injury in 2009. While playing with the Rams, Bradford suffered with a bad ankle sprain in 2011 and tore his left ACL in 2013 and 2014.

Bradford played a total of 49 games and missing 31 in five seasons. Though his body is tormented by these injuries, when healthy, Bradford is a great quarterback.

In Kelly’s system, the quarterback must have the precision in passing. This was one of the reasons why Kelly traded Foles, who ranked 31st in NFL accuracy. If Bradford stays healthy, he might be the franchise quarterback that the Eagles are looking for since Donovan McNabb.

Bradford is competing with Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow for the starting quarterback position. However, Bradford is way ahead as long as he is healthy.
