Arkansas v Virginia College World Series 2015 Online Coverage, Preview

The Arkansas Razorbacks take on the Virginia Cavaliers in one of the College World Series Games on Saturday at 3:00 PM ET at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

Arkansas (40-23) enters in the College World Series for the eighth time but continues to search its first title. Though the Razorbacks are in the top eight teams, winning a title is a long shot given that they have a depleted pitching staff. Two of their top pitchers Dominic Taccolini and James Teague are out of the CWS, while No. 2 starter Keaton McKinney has been suffering with hip soreness and has pitched for a combined 6 2/3 innings in the last three games.

“We’re happy, but we’re not satisfied,” said pitcher Trey Killian, who will start for Arkansas against Virginia in today’s 2 p.m. College World Series opener at Ameritrade Park. “We’re not here to take a little vacation in Omaha. We’re ready to compete and try to win the whole thing.”

Arkansas started the season at 11-12 record but with determination and longsuffering, the team flourished. Razorbacks coach Dave Van Horn is not disturbed by the depleted pitching staff but he is positive about staying in the competition.

Virginia (39-22) is also having problem in rotation in an injury plagued year. However, Joe McCarthy and Robbie Coman are back to the roster, Virginia still needed to play Nathan Kirby to a bullpen role in the College World Series. Kirby, a left-hander with 75 strikeouts in 59.1 innings pitched this season, threw 40 pitches in a simulated game in Charlottesville, Virginia on Monday and is expected to be available in Omaha.

Connor Jones has been able to step in and be a stable starter for Virginia, making a .296 ERA with 105 strikeouts in 103.1 innings pitched this season.
