Washington Redskins Rumors: QB Blake Sims to try for running back and wide receiver, will he be impressive?

Blake Sims is one of the college quarterbacks who couldn’t find job in the NFL at the quarterback position. Sims even led Alabama to the college football playoff last season as the anchor but has no landing place in the NFL.

Sims tried his luck with the Green Bay Packers but the team is not signing him. Surely, the Packers will not include Sims at the center, but instead they will stick on UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley, who was drafted in the fifth round.

Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy mentioned that Sims did “some nice things” during his workout as quarterback, however, the Packers did not sign him.

After trying out with the Packers, Sims is reported that he will go to Washington to work out for the Redskins not as a quarterback, instead a running back and slot with receiver.

Sims spent his college years as a running back and backup quarterback from 2010-2013 under the watch of Alabama coach Nick Saban. He became the starting quarterback in 2014 and he was very successful in that position. In 14 starts, he accumulated 3,487 yards in passing, 28 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

Sims is not giving up on his dream to play in the NFL, the Redskins might have a room for him as a running back or slot receiver.

Another team that might be interested on Blake Sims is New England. If Tom Brady will be suspended for number of games or for the entire season, the Patriots would have to find another quarterback.

Currently, the Patriots have Jimmy Garoppolo and Garrett Gilbert as their quarterbacks outside Brady. Sims might be a quarterback that the Patriots need.
