PGA Masters Leaderboard and First Round Results: Where is Rory McIlroy?

Jordan Spieth finished at 8-under 64 to lead the the Masters Tournament’s First Round at the Augusta National GC – Augusta, GA.

Spieth was sharp in the front nine with four birdies, ending at 32 strokes while he did the same at the back nine. Though he faltered at the 15th hole by putting a bogey, he bounced back at the 18th hole with a birdie. Spieth has three strokes advantages over his nearest competitors.

Ernie Els was tied with Spieth at one point when he eagled the 15th hole. Els couldn’t hang on in the last three holes with two pars and a bogey in the 18th. Els started 2-under par in the first three holes, making birdies in holes 2nd and 3rd.

Jason Day finished 5-under for the first round. He birdied the 12th to 16th hole consecutively to place second place at one point in the Masters leaderboard. But Day made some missteps in the 17th to end up a bogey.

Justin Rose finished strong at 5-under par 67, putting six birdies but with a bogey, all the rest are pars. Rose had saved the last three holes to stay at second place.

Charley Hoffman had a great day finishing at 5-under par 67 also. He was 2-under par at front nine, and he eagled the 15 hole to jump into the leaderboard. He also birdied the 16th and 18th hole.

Russell Henley and Sergio Garcia are tied at 4-under par 68 for the first round.

Tiger Woods struggled throughout the day at 1-over par 73. Woods was content to stay afloat with five consecutive pars at the back nine. He was 3-under par in the four par 5 holes.

Rory McIlroy finished the first round at 1-under par 71. McIlroy birdied the 7th, 13th and 15th holes while he bogeyed the 6th and 11th holes.
