NY Giants 2015 NFL Draft Preview: Running back is a priority, but Marcus Mariota is possible?

The New York Giants might be looking for a running back in the 2015 Draft as they waived reserved Michael Cox. While the Giants didn’t live up to the expectations of many last season, the organization wants new faces that could bolster the chances of getting into the playoffs.

Cox was a seventh-round pick of New York in 2013. He appeared in 18 games for the Giants in the last two seasons with only 76 yards in 26 carries.

On Thursday’s NFL Draft, there are numbers of running backs that could be acquired to fit the Giants offense.

In the Giants’ roster, Shane Vereen, coming from the Patriots, Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams are teams running backs. The three might be enough for the upcoming season but we all know that injury could devastate a team. Thus, drafting a running back might be in the plan of the Giants.

The Giants owned the No. 9 pick in the 2015 draft, and there top running backs in the draft including Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, Tevin Coleman, Duke Johnson and Ameer Abdullah.

With a strong running game, quarterback Eli Manning is expected to have a great season. Will the Giants pick a running back?
