Manila, Philippines – The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters clinched Game One of the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup finals, by defeating the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 99-92 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Talk ‘N Text continued to dominate the Elasto Painters winning eight of their last outings in the last four conferences.
Ranidel De Ocampo was named the best player of the game. De Ocampo registered a team high 24 points. The Tropang Texters import Ivan Johnson added 23 markers. Jayson Castro posted 14 points while Matt Ganuelas-Rosser contributed 10 points including a two slam dunks.
Wayne Chism spearheaded the Elasto Paiters with 34 points, and playmaker Paul Lee chipped in 13 points. No other players from the Elasto Painters recorded double digit in scoring. Almazan had a good showing with nine points and Jeff Chan return to line up with eight markers.
Despite the win, the Tropang Texters head coach Jong Uichico was unsatisfied how his team played.
“We gave up too many points. We’re happy we won [but] we’re not satisfied with the way we played. Though we won, we didn’t show the level of emotion we did in the Purefoods game” said by Uichico.
Game 2 is on Friday night with the series shifting to the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
