Cleveland Browns Rumors: Marcus Mariota is a prospect in the NFL 2015 Draft?

The Cleveland Browns are on the verge of making another decision in the NFL Draft 2015. Despite drafting Johnny Manziel in 2014, the Browns are looking for yet another quarterback, probably, Marcus Mariota?

Manziel didn’t live up to the expectations of the Browns fans and organization. Manziel played five games in 2014. He completed 18 of 35 attempts for 175 yards. Manziel had two interceptions and one fumble.

The quarterback who is supposed to be the “savior” of the struggling Browns was not productive in his rookie season. Manziel brought disruptions to the organization by his abhorrent behavior.

Because the Browns want to be secured at the quarterback position, veteran Josh McCown was acquired. Moreover, Cleveland is rumored to have its sight on Heisman Trophy-winner Marcus Mariota in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer said that owners of the No. 12 and No. 19 overall picks, the Browns know more about Mariota than most NFL teams because their new quarterbacks coach, Kevin O’Connell, spent several months before the NFL combine in February preparing Mariota for the pre-draft process.

She also added:

“In fact, it was O’Connell who ran Mariota’s pro day at Oregon March 12 in front of representatives of all 32 teams. He’s a leading authority on Mariota, and Mariota stressed at the combine that he’d love to be reunited in Cleveland with his tutor”.

With the intention of the Browns to have Mariota, it would be impossible that Mariota will not be drafted at all before Browns pick at No. 12. The Browns might be nurturing Manziel and just have their two picks in different positions.
